The vintage was marked by widespread wildfires towards the end of the growing season, posing a significant threat to grape quality due to smoke exposure.  However, with thoughtful care and attention Paige Wines managed to produce one small lot of Pinot Noir.  We believe it is worth trying, and at $20 a bottle it is a smokin’ deal!

The 2021 Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills blossoms in the glass with echoes of violet, lavender and mint, giving way to crushed blackberries.  This is a cool-toned and sleek with masses of ripe wild berry fruit completed by hints of citrus and a sweet herbal thrust toward the close.  It finishes long and staining with a lingering concentration. 2019 Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir

Dense red and black fruit from Wind Ridge Vineyard on Ribbon Ridge, bolstered with firm tannins and wet-stone minerality from Black Hole Vineyard on Parrett Mountain.  With the brightness of one of our most elegant vintages in recent memory, this is already delightful but can easily age for over a decade! The 2019 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountains is sweetly spiced with dusty violet florals and hints of licorice giving way to dried strawberries.  It's soft and round, with a tactile mineral bite and crisp black fruits cascading throughout.  This leaves a coating of primary concentration and a pleasantly bitter tinge, tapering off long and lightly structured.  - Eric Guido
